Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.
United Midcoast Charities (UMC) will reveal its 2018 grantees as part of a community celebration at the Rockport Opera House on Thursday, September 20.
Representatives from the nearly fifty organizations receiving 2018 UMC grants will gather beginning at 4 p.m. The public is invited to join the grant awardees from 5 to 7 p.m. to celebrate with music from The Right Track, delicious appetizers from Café Miranda and drinks from a cash bar. The Unsung Hero award for community volunteer of the year will also be announced during the event.
“We want everyone to join us to learn about the nonprofit organizations we serve and to celebrate the great work being done in our communities,” says UMC Executive Director Megan Williams. “This is a great opportunity to meet the hardworking staff and volunteers who provide essential services to our neighbors, to support UMC and simply have a good time together.” Tickets are available for $20 in advance on the events page at unitedmidcoastcharities.org or by calling 207-236-2299. If space allows, tickets will be available at the door via cash or check for $25.
United Midcoast Charities, founded in 1942, is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to energize Midcoast Maine nonprofit agencies through finance and guidance, supporting a network of resources stronger than any single organization. Through a rigorous application and review process, UMC funds nonprofits that serve residents of Knox and Waldo counties in the areas of food, housing, health & safety and economic security.
