41.1 percent of Bowdoin College students played sports on university teams in 2016-2017


In 2016-2017, 41.1 percentage of Bowdoin College students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Bowdoin College has a total student body of 1,816 students, of which 50 percent are men and 50 percent are women. Of these students, 415 men and 331 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 4.3 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at Bowdoin College with the most participants are all track combined (222), football (74) and lacrosse (74).
